UPDATED: The National Police Air Service helicopter has been searching in the skies above Bembridge tonight (Saturday) following an incident in the village.
At around 21:00 multiple Police units, including an Armed Response Vehicle, responded at speed into Bembridge alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The emergency crews are currently in attendance at a property on Beachfield Road, although the helicopter has since departed the area.
Island Echo understands that officers have been in attendance at the conveience store on Lane End Road. They are said to be searching for a female.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the incident.
UPDATE SUNDAY – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that last night’s search was indeed for a woman, after concerns were raised for her welfare.
She was located shortly after 21:00.
