UPDATE – Police have now identified the person in the image.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have released the image of a woman they wish to speak to after a barcode, that scanned items for just £1, was used to steal more than £550 worth of goods from Asda.
A woman attended Asda on St George’s Way on 16th October and 17th October and bought several high value items, but used a barcode on her phone to only pay £1 for each item.
In total £576 worth of items were stolen, including 3 soundbars, 2 air fryers, heated throws and laundry pods.
As part of their investigation, Police are issuing an image of a woman we would like to speak to.
She is described as white, about 30 years old, short black hair, glasses, about 5ft 4in tall.

If they do the courts need to make her pay dearly if convicted, for as long as crime pays then we , as a society , are on a hiding to nothing.
Honest citizens have to pick up the bill for all these criminals.

Modern technology is a disaster in the making,
would never have happened in the old days when
people had to line up and pay a cashier.
Self service needs better monitoring, also being
stores don’t provide carrier bags many people
walk out of shops with items in their hands.
It must be a nightmare for store workers.

Surely if she’s paid £1 for each item then it’s not theft? there was a transaction. I understand that the error lies with the store and she’s cheated the system but there’s been no theft?
