23-year-old Ashley Hills has been handed a 20-month disqualification from driving after being caught behind the wheel whilst twice the drink-drive limit.
Hills, of Mountfield Road in Wroxall, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (21st May) charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level about limit and possession of a Class A drug – namely cocaine.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told Magistrates that at around 05:35 on 16th January this year Police spotted a vehicle driving without any lights on travelling down Ocean View Road, Ventnor.
Officers stopped the car and conducted a roadside breathe test, which Hills failed. He was taken into custody at Newport Police Station as a result.
During a search, a small bag of white powder was found – which was later confirmed as cocaine. This led to the charge of possession of a controlled drug.
Magistrates handed Ashley Hills a 20-month driving ban and fined him £220, as well as ordering him to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.

As if the drink driving wasn’t bad enough, possession of class A drugs is supposed to incur an automatic prison term. Not with our magistrates though, they don’t send people to jail. Disgraceful! Both the criminal and the magistrate.
Seems all these drink/drug ’20 something’ year olds are way too immature to drive a car. They all think it’s ok to drive. It’s so wrong, they could kill or seriously injur an innocent person. Idiots, the lot of them. Shame they all don’t get a prison sentence.
