Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester will be visiting the Isle of Wight later this month, it has been announced.
She will carry out a number of engagements across the Island on Wednesday 19th April.
At St Mary’s Hospital, she will officially open the newly-built ambulance station, taking a guided tour of the facility and meeting operational staff and teams behind the running of the service.
She will also be showing her support to the Island Games team that is travelling to compete in Guernsey later in the year. She will give thanks to the team’s 2 longest-standing main sponsors — kit sponsor ICR TOUCH and Red Funnel, which has sponsored the team travel.
The Duchess of Gloucester will also visit the West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir, who meet every Wednesday in Freshwater. The choir is made up of people living with dementia, their family members and some carers and provides a couple of hours’ joy and respite to all concerned.
Finally, she will visit Home-Start IOW, a voluntary organisation that offers support to parents and carers with at least 1 child under 5 to help them with the challenges of family life.
The media are being excluded from visits to the ambulance station and Home-Start IOW, but coverage with include Her Royal Highness’ other engagements.

Looked her up on Wiki and, apparently, her husband Prince Richard (no, hadn’t heard of him either, sorry) is 30th in line to the throne.
So, there we go, I’ve learnt something today. Not sure it’ll be of any use to me but just in case I do ever meet her I’ll be able to ask after her husband.
