Tesco customers living in Ventnor can book online home deliveries once again after seemingly being shunned by the supermarket giant – all due to the landslip at Bonchurch. Residents living in the South Wight town have taken to social media in the past few days to complain about the sudden decision. It has been claimed that Tesco decided to stop delivering to certain postcodes due to the lengthy diversion required to bypass Leeson Road, following a major landslide back in December.
Disgruntled Ventnor residents say that several reasons have been given by Tesco, from ‘safety of drivers’ to ‘a technical glitch’. The mixed messages have been deemed unhelpful by many. Island Echo approached Tesco for comment earlier today (Monday), with confirmation received that Ventnor residents are once again able to fully utilise the popular home delivery service. However, no comment has been made as to why Ventnor residents were unable to book slots in the first place. A Tesco spokesperson has said:
“Customers in Ventnor are now able to book online home deliveries. “Customers may still need to allow extra time for deliveries due to the landslip that occurred in December.”
