A field of 16 ladies took to the course at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club on Sunday (26th April) to compete for the historic Royal Isle of Wight Medal on a bright and sunny day.
The annual competition is open to players who have either won or finished runner-up in a medal competition during the preceding year.
The Royal Isle of Wight Medal dates back to 1882 and was presented to the club, along with other memorabilia, following the closure of the Royal Isle of Wight Golf Club in 1961.
Players welcomed the return of the 9th hole, which has recently undergone Winter refurbishment. The course was said to be in excellent condition throughout.
Caroline Warne secured victory with a nett 71, winning on countback from Sara Dana, who finished in 2nd place. Dawn Hodge claimed 3rd place with a nett 74.
