Firefighters from Shanklin have extinguished an undergrowth fire on the hottest day of the year so far.
1 appliance was mobilised to the Silver Trees area, off Blythe Way, at 10:58 this morning (Saturday).
Retained firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and damp down the immediate area.
It’s been confirmed that a hedge and surrounding undergrowth were scorched. The cause is unknown.
Firefighters were on scene for just 17 minutes.
Mild, possibly warm, but hardly hot.
