Award-winning Medina Community Choir will be taking to the stage for their first performances of 2022 on 8th April at St Mary’s Church, Cowes and on 9th April at St John’s Church, Newport.
The choir will be performing the Heaven and Hell-themed concert they had originally scheduled for 2020. Both concerns start at 19:00.
Choir director Hannah Redman says:
“In 2020 we started on a programme called ‘Heaven and Hell’ featuring everything from Beyoncé’s Halo, to Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell, to Haydn’s The Heavens Are Telling. We didn’t get to perform that year, thanks to Covid-19, but the time has finally come!”
The choir rehearsed on Zoom during lockdowns and resumed in-person rehearsals as soon as permitted, performing Beatles and Peace and Love-themed charity concerts last July, and 3 festive concerts in December, before returning to the Heaven and Hell repertoire.
Upcoming plans include a gospel workshop (14:00-17:00) and concert (19:00) in aid of Mountbatten on 23rd April at St Mary’s Church, Cowes. In the summer the choir will perform full gospel concerts on the Island on 30th July at Newport Minster and 31st July at St Catherine’s, Ventnor before going on tour to France during August.
