Blackwater Mill Care Home has issued a heartfelt thank you to students and staff at Newport C of E Primary School for beautiful and thoughtful cards sent to residents, in a demonstration of intergenerational friendship and empathy. Each card – sent from the school to the Blackwater-based home – has been described as a beacon of kindness, sparking smiles and even a few tears of joy among residents. Residents were over the moon to receive the considerate gifts, feeling valued and remembered by the younger generation. One resident, Rose Cluff, was moved by the gesture and tearfully expressed:
“They wrote a card for me…what beautiful words to write to a stranger.”
Hajnal Imra-Pall, Homes Manager, has said:
“These cards represent the importance of strong integrational and community links we pride ourselves on here at Blackwater Mill. To receive such a beautiful array of cards was fantastic and put smiles on so many faces. “We are incredibly grateful for this initiative and the effort put forth by the students and teachers at Newport C of E Primary. Your kindness has not only made a significant difference in the lives of our residents but also serves as a beautiful example of intergenerational friendship and empathy. “We eagerly look forward to writing back to you all very soon, sharing our stories and gratitude. This exchange of letters is more than just words on paper; it is a bridge connecting hearts and bringing smiles across generations”.
