Sandown seafront was alive with colour, music and laughter yesterday (Sunday) as crowds gathered for the annual Sandown Regatta.
Visitors enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment, from live music and market stalls to children’s activities and the much-loved hat parade.
The sunny weather made for perfect conditions, with families lining the Esplanade to soak up the seaside atmosphere.
Highlights of the day included performances from local musicians, creative costumes in the hat competition, and plenty of opportunities for residents and tourists to enjoy traditional regatta fun – a part of Sandown’s summer since 1857.

Does the Commodore still come in and tooth it’s horn by the pier then do a 360• before carrying on to Portsmouth?
It was an excellent day as always.
The free parking outside the old tourist information centre
opposite the pier was an added bonus.
