A group of 7 walkers are to embark on a 150-mile walk from Twickenham to the Island next month all in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND). Plans to fundraise were first touted following the announcement that a friend of the group was diagnosed with (MND), with the group deciding since then that they wished to raise more awareness and vital funds in attempts to help develop a cure for the debilitating disease. The plan for this latest challenge is to walk 150 miles in 7 continuous days, starting from Twickenham RFU Stadium to Southampton and then around the Isle of Wight coastline. This will commence on 14th May and be completed (hopefully) 20th May 2024. Most of the team are what you would classify as ‘novice’ walkers, but they have been training hard to ensure that they see it through and complete it. This latest challenge is the 2nd the group has completed following an event held in August 2023 in which a staggering £80,000 was raised in just 1 night. A spokesperson from Team: 150MND, has said:
“We are again supporting the same 2 main charities, the MNDA and My Name’5 Doddie Weir Foundation. “They do amazing work and offer comfort, support and help for people suffering with MND and fund vital research with their aim of finding the cause and developing a cure. Check out their work and achievements on their websites, click the logos above to visit the sites.”
So far, the group sit about 20% of the way to their target having already raised more than £30,000. Anyone wishing to donate to the cause can do so here. All monies raised will be split between the MNDA and the My Name’s Doddie Foundation.

Too many shoddy walls on the island.
Good to see the Fire Service attending such incidents, maybe in
future they will help out with floods.
Sadly they only do landslides and walls falling down flooding isn’t covered sorry
Sorry, flooding can’t be delt with, the Tories cut spending so much we don’t have enough. So it’s just first come first service. If you want real emergency support then make sure the Tories don’t get elected again. Anyone is better that those bunch of criminals.
Of course Labour will ride in on white chargers, give that money tree a good ole shake and it will be free cash for everyone…
Yup floods that make that building an smell of damp
I suppose some firemen are moonlighting as builders. Must be pricing up the repair job.
They have to, no money in being an emergency worker, Tories have cut spending too much.
Fire fighters start on £28k and this rises to £36k after a couple of years. Good job they all have extra work on the side when they have all of those days off.
