Gritters will be hitting the Island’s roads from 18:00 this evening (Friday) due to the forecast low temperatures, with another gritting run planned for Saturday morning. Island Roads says that with freezing temperatures predicted, its fleet of gritters will be treating the road network twice in a 13-hour period. The 1st run will begin at 18:00 tonight, with a 2nd run scheduled to take place just over 12 hours later at 07:00 on Saturday morning. IW Met Service predicts overnight lows of between -2c and -5c. Motorists are being advised to take extra care driving in icy conditions.
