A brand-new skatepark in East Cowes has officially opened to the public following a celebratory event yesterday (Thursday) which was attended by local schoolchildren, volunteers and community leaders.
Pupils from Queensgate Foundation Primary School joined in the festivities, which were marked by a lively and inclusive atmosphere. Riders from across the Isle of Wight showcased their skills on BMX bikes, skateboards and scooters, drawing applause and admiration from the gathered crowd.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Mayor of East Cowes, Councillor Tracy Reardon, who expressed her thanks to everyone involved in the realisation of the skatepark project.
Councillor Tracy Reardon, Mayor of East Cowes, has said:
“This skatepark is a fantastic addition to our community. It’s wonderful to see so many people here today enjoying the space.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this dream a reality – especially the residents of East Cowes for their support and commitment.”

The project was spearheaded by East Cowes Town Council with the support of various contributors, including:

- John and Zoe and the East Cowes Skatepark Project Team
- Crown Park and Hillcroft

- A team of local volunteers who helped with construction
The skatepark is now open for public use. Residents are encouraged to visit, enjoy the space, and share their experiences.
