Ryde Elim Pentecostal Church and Sandown Lighthouse Church spent last weekend delivering over 700 boxes of chocolates to residents living near to both places of worship. Over 50 members of both congregations turned out to escort Father Christmas around the streets of Ryde and Sandown as they delivered the free gifts to hundreds of households. Interim Senior Pastor Ben Brown said:
“At Christmas we celebrate the greatest free gift ever given in the birth of Jesus. We like to celebrate that ourselves by giving a free gift of chocolate to our friends and neighbours. As Churches we try to show love to those around us and what better way to do that than having some fun and giving presents at Christmas.
All of the chocolates were provided by Church members who have been collecting them over the past 2 months. Ryde Elim Church is based in Albert Street, Ryde and meets at 10:30 each Sunday morning. Lighthouse Church is based in Fort Street, Sandown and meets at 15:00 each Sunday.
