UPDATED: 4 fire appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to reports of a domestic garage fire in Freshwater this lunchtime (Monday).
Crews are tackling the blaze at a bungalow on Selwood Road having been called to the scene at just before 12:15.
2 pumps from Newport, 1 from Ryde, 1 from Freshwater and the Incident Command Unit from Newport are attending.
Police have also been called to the scene to assist the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
UPDATE @ 13:40 – Jeff Walls, Group Manager for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that crews are now in the stage of damping down fascias and guttering on 2 bungalows situated either side of the garage.
Although the fire has spread to the adjoining property, the damage is said to be minimal.
The British Red Cross Fire & Emergency Support Unit is on scene and volunteers are assisting the homeowners.
