A 39-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of arson has been released under investigation, Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed.
Emergency services were called to Spring Gardens shortly before 19:30 on Saturday evening following reports of a person inside a garage, which was on fire. 1 woman was passed into the care of paramedics and treated for smoke inhalation.
However, the next day Police confirmed the same woman had been arrested on suspicion of arson and committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.
Enquiries are still ongoing to piece together the exact circumstances of Saturday evening.
In the meantime, the suspect has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
It’s known that the fire was contained to a small area and started in a bag of general garden waste.
