Furzehill Childcare Centre held its Fundraising Extravaganza in aid of the Island father of 2 Reece Payne last Saturday (11th February).
Reece has set up a crowdfunding campaign to help him to raise £50,000 for lifesaving cancer treatment in Japan and is now nearly at his target and will be planning his trip in the next few weeks.
An event which started with the idea of a small cake sale quickly turned into an extravaganza with the help of Angela Lorenz (Miss Poppins parties) and parent Anneka Wilson (Anneka Wilson fitness), as well as lots of helpers – particularly staff and family of Furzehill.
Hundreds of people attended and took part in a magnificent bake-off, Dad’s masterclass, baby BootCamp and a Disney dance-off.
A huge raffle with 64 amazing prizes, face painting, glitter tattoos, cake sale, circus skills and balloon modelling were among plenty of other things to do, whilst a visit from Peppa Pig was the star of the show.
The total raised so far is £2,449 with sponsor money and other donations still to come in.
Reece attended the event with his 2 daughters and partner Carlie, who were also overwhelmed by the support and generosity.
UPDATE ON 13th March – Lucy Coleman, has said:
“I just wanted to provide you all with an update regarding our fundraising event at Furzehill Childcare Centre for Reece Payne and to show the community the final total raised.
“Today I have been incredibly humbled to hand over the money raised which totalled an amazing £3221.19.
“Reece has received his first course of treatment in Germany and now has a bit of a waiting game to see what impact this has. He is very close to his target of £50,000 which will enable him to have a further course of the treatment in Germany at a later date.”
