An emergency call handler is crowdfunding after an incident at work left them with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) The call handler – who wishes to remain anonymous and has not disclosed what service she works for – began suffering from PTSD after an incident at work. The incident in question back in 2022, sadly saw the person on the other end of the phone pass away, despite the best efforts by all involved to save them. As a result of their ongoing struggles, the call handler is at risk of losing their job. However, the waiting list to undergo EDMR Therapy on the NHS is a lengthy one, so the worker is trying to raise funds to undergo private therapy. Speaking on their JustGiving page, the emergency worker has said:
“There are many of us who work in the emergency call-handling sector and we’re proud to do all we can to help in life-and-death situations for those who’ve found themselves in need of help.
“I’d like to fully recover and continue my career in the emergency services and help save many more lives.”

Is this a verified story? The JustGiving page could have been created by anyone. It wont be getting a donation from me.
There is no link to the page so don’t fret over it.
EMDR is also pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo.
EDMR training is what is used to de stress soldiers who have been in combat, and help those with PTSD after returning from war zones, so lets hope you are wrong…..
Maybe this job isn’t for you.
seriously – talk about milking it
Really I could tell you a horrific story of my life that you wouldn’t believe and she’s got ptsd just another way to get money from the taxpayers
Got PTSD from doing a job trying to save lives….
And before anyone says what have tax payers got to do with it you’re only going to give if you have disposable income and that isn’t people on benefits
Tax payers to whom would probably donate to go fund
Before anyone asks I’m a tax payer and more likely to give
Who would like to give me money, as I had an incident at work.
Wrong tea bags, white sugar rather than brown ? my donation on it’s way.
Given the nature of the job, call handlers will be exposed to traumatic events that may impact them. I am therefore surprised that employees don’t have access to private healthcare as part of their role. Alternatively, they don’t have an in-house therapist trained in techniques such as EMDR.
As the trauma results from doing her job, the employer has a duty of care in providing therapy. To dismiss someone within a role who has become unwell due to their employment is negligent by their HR department. I advise the girl to seek independent legal advice as something isn’t right. The HR department is failing her. To seek public donations doesn’t sound right either.
Really, what utter b.s
They have support in house because of the nature of the Job.
Scam.
Ok. I lied. I’m not a taxpayer at all. I have disposable income and I’m keeping it all to myself.
Obviously this person is of an extremely sensitive nature, therefore should not have applied for or accepted such a roll. As sad as it is, death is a part of life, but trying your best to talk to someone down a phone line & actually being hands on & seeing them fade away, whether in controlled or extreme circumstances is very very different. Yes hearing it isn’t nice but is certainly nothing like being involved at the scene. You should just walk away from that job. What happened won’t be the only time you experience such & your clearly not able to separate.
No details of the incident have been revealed. I work for the emergency services and it’s the unusual incident I find most stressful. The ones that training doesn’t prepare you for, for whatever reason. Because you start to panic, realising that what you’d normally do in a situation won’t work this time. Other people find incidents involving children most difficult.
If the person was employed surely they belong to a Trade Union and that is who should be helping them if they think they need financial help.
What an utter p take! Heard it all now
Seems like everyone is setting them up now. No different to begging.
It’s a shame the employer isn’t providing therapy. They say that HR approved the wording. Seems like the HR department doesn’t want the public knowing which service this person works for. Else they’d probably struggle to recruit if people realised they’d be expected to go on an NHS waiting list for therapy.
This is becoming a joke.
Majority of the country / the world have been suffering since the
Plandemic.
Can we all set up a crowdfunding?!.
Surly the employer should be paying for this.!!
It says HR approved the wording of the campaign. Seems the service is embarrassed and doesn’t want people knowing which one it is that signposts employees to the NHS for therapy.
I’m a millennial and I’ve had to have a week off work because I stubbed my toe. I am still getting paid, but I believe I deserve some money for the mental anguish that the pain has caused me. It wasn’t my fault that my door was in the way of my foot. Therefore, other people should donate money to me because I am entitled to it.
I worked for a police force for a number of years dealing here as part of my role i saw a large number of distressing images and videos. When I started there were mandatory counselling sessions every 3 months, due to cuts this was changed to every 6 months this was then followed by once a year and then changed only if you requested it…..the cuts were financial only and not in the best interests of the employee
Yet the country can afford to fund , not for a while, but forever the third world NEVER ENDING arrivals and infinite offspring for the rest of time, yet can’t offer it’s Police force full protection?
You must now you are out of such, see the damage of allowing in a truly never ending and intolerant varied mix of unsuitable people can and will cause the country and Police forever now.
Best tell Donna
