A fundraising appeal has been launched in memory of Tristan Price, who tragically lost his life in a fatal road traffic collision near Roud at the weekend (Saturday).
He is being remembered as a much-loved member of Ventnor Rugby Club and a familiar face in Newport’s night-time economy.
Emergency services were called to Whitwell Road, at the junction with Roud Road, shortly after 20:00 on Saturday following reports of a serious single-vehicle collision involving a Citroen Picasso.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, firefighters and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the driver – a man in his 40s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Now, a GoFundMe page has been set up by one of Tristan’s former teammates to help support Tristan’s family with immediate funeral and memorial expenses. Any additional funds will be placed into a junior ISA for his daughter, to support her future and honour his legacy as a loving father.
Tristan was a well-known figure at Ventnor Rugby Club, where he played and supported the team with enthusiasm and kindness. Off the pitch, he worked as a doorman in Newport and was known for his friendly and reassuring presence.
