Freshwater residents’ fears over potentially losing their Post Office as part of plans for the town’s Co-Operative store to become a Tesco have been allayed.
The announcement that the Co-Operative store on Afton Road is set to close and transform into a new branch of Tesco came just days ago, but concerns were quickly raised about the future of the Post Office within the store.
The deal is yet to be finalised, but the store is expected to change hands later this year with staff currently employed there being offered a TUPE transfer.
In regards to the future of the town’s postal facilities, the Post Officer has confirmed that the branch remains open as normal at the current time, and discussions are being held with the new supermarket about operating a Post Office from the same location.

Good news all round.
Really? I think you are jumping the gun. Let’s see what happens.
“At the current time”. That doesn’t say anything apart from the facts talks are in progress. However Tesco do have PO in other branches.
Its not a done deal so how can residents fears be “allayed”
Exactly, nothing there says that Tesco will definitely take over the Post Office
