A misconduct hearing has found that former Isle of Wight police officer Angela Wood committed gross misconduct after keeping ‘inaccurate’ records about visits to registered sex offenders under her supervision.
The hearing, held in July, heard that between February and June 2023, former PC Wood failed to ensure standard procedures were followed in her role as an offender manager.
It’s said that records of visits to registered sex offenders and the contact she had with them were inaccurate.
Angela Wood joined Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in 2005, serving for 13 years as a response officer before moving into neighbourhood policing for a period of 4 years as part of the North East Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team based at Ryde Police Station.
She was an offender manager for just 2 years.
The panel ruled that her actions amounted to gross misconduct, breaching the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Honesty and Integrity, as well as Discreditable Conduct.
It was determined that PC Wood would have been dismissed had she not already resigned from the force.
She will now be placed on the national Barred List for a minimum of 5 years, preventing her from working in policing or other specified law enforcement roles during this period.
