The Isle of Wight Youth Trust has announced the appointment of Nigel Hartley MBE to its Board of Trustees, bringing decades of healthcare and charity leadership experience to the organisation.
The Island charity, which supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people, says the appointment comes at a time when more young Islanders are facing poor mental health and uncertainty about their future.
Nigel has worked in end-of-life care for over 40 years, most recently serving as Chief Executive of the Mountbatten Hospice Group until his retirement in 2025. During his career, he became known for championing accessible, high-quality care and driving innovation within the sector.
He is now involved with several Isle of Wight organisations and is due to take on the role of High Sheriff for the Isle of Wight from May.

“Nigel brings a wealth of experience to the Isle of Wight Youth Trust and we are very pleased to welcome him to our Board.
“His insight and passion for quality services and high performing organisations arrives at an exciting time for the charity, as we look to launch a new five-year strategy developed with and for young people across the Isle of Wight.”
Commenting on his appointment, Nigel said:

“I started my counselling career in youth services and look forward to contributing to an organisation that empowers young people and strengthens the mental health support they deserve.”
