A former Isle of Wight College apprentice has turned his training into a thriving business, opening his own garage and showcasing the success of local apprenticeships.
Joe Moore, from Bembridge, left school at 16 and trained as a mechanic through the Isle of Wight College’s apprenticeship scheme.
With encouragement and support from his tutors, Joe developed the practical skills and confidence that helped him build a successful career in the automotive trade.
Now, aged just 25, he has achieved his long-held dream of opening his own workshop – The Auto Den – based at New Barn Farm in Calbourne, off Middle Road.
Joe has said the support and high standards at the Isle of Wight College gave him a strong foundation to build on:
“The tutors really pushed me to aim high and always do the job properly.
“They gave me the confidence to take pride in my work, and that’s something I carry through every repair and service now.”
Over recent years, Joe has earned 8 recognised mechanical qualifications, spent time working in Australia to expand his skills, and gained a reputation locally for reliability and quality workmanship.
At The Auto Den, Joe says he is focused on offering a trusted, personal service for motorists across the Isle of Wight, with the same standards he learned during his apprenticeship.
Anyone seeking mechanical repairs or servicing can contact Joe on 07949 903440 or find The Auto Den on Facebook and Instagram.
