UPDATED: The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for fog overnight and into tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
Extensive fog is expected to form across parts of southern England between 22:20 tonight and 10:00 tomorrow. Forecasters say it may be dense in places.
The fog is expected both on hills and at low levels and visibily will be very variable, as low as 50-100m in places. Whilst much of it will clear by 10:00, some patches may linger for the rest of the morning.
Although the warning doesn’t specifically include the Isle of Wight, the surrounding areas are included within the warning zone. Some disruption to cross-Solent travel is possible as a result.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – As anticipated, Red Funnel’a Red Jet service is delayed by 10 minutes due to the foggy conditions this morning.
Motorists should take extra care on the roads.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 16:00 – The Met Office has issued a second weather warning for fog from 19:00 this evening until 10:00 tomorrow morning (Thursday).
Patches of fog are likely to form readily in rural areas during this evening, becoming more widespread and locally dense overnight and first thing tomorrow.
