Foggy conditions on the Solent have led to the suspension of Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry services between East Cowes and Southampton this morning (Saturday). Red Funnel has confirmed that the service is suspended until further notice, with customers advised to await further updates regarding the delay. Meanwhile, the hi-speed Red Jet service is running a shuttle service until further notice. Queues are forming on both sides of the Solent, including down Cowes High Street.
Wightlink’s services are running to timetable with some minor delays anticipated. UPDATE @ 11:59 – Services have now resumed but the route is suffering delays of 60 minutes. UPDATE @ 17:20 – The delay on the vehicle ferry service had been reduced to 25 minutes, but the service has now been suspended once again. The hi-speed Red Jet service between West Cowes and Southampton has also been suspended. An update will be given by 19:00, suggesting the service may remain suspended for several hours. Hovertravel has suspended its cross-Solent services between Ryde and Southsea, whilst Wightlink has suspended its Yarmouth-Lymington service. UPDATE @ 19:15 – Hovertravel and Wightlink services have now resumed.
