Red Funnel has suspended its vehicle ferry service between East Cowes and Southampton this morning (Friday) due to foggy conditions on the Solent.
The cross-Solent operator is not permitted to enter or exit Cowes Harbour when visibility is restricted.
It’s said that the service is suspended until further notice.
The decision to halt all sailings will have a knock on effect throughout the day, with delays expected to continue for several hours once the service resumes.
All other cross-Solent services are running as normal.
UPDATE @ 07:12 – Red Funnel says that its service has resumed, but is now facing delays of 1 hour.
The hi-speed Red Jet service is also delayed by 15-20 minutes.
UPDATE @ 07:38 – The vehicle ferry service has been suspended once again.
Wightlink is advising of 20 minute delays on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth service.
UPDATE – The vehicle ferry has now resumed, however, booked vehicle traffic will encounter delays to departure times due to the earlier cancellations.
