A flood warning is now in force for Whitwell, Wroxall, Langbridge and Alverstone on the Eastern Yar with residents urged to take immediate action this Bank Holiday Monday.
Water levels in the Eastern Yar are high and rising following heavy rain during Storm Bella in the early hours of Sunday morning.
In the next 3 hours property flooding is expected at Alverstone, with impacts also possible at Whitwell High Street.
Access to Horringford may be restricted and Golf Links Road in Sandown, cycle tracks and footpaths will be impassable.
Further showers are expected over the next few hours and heavy rain, possibly in the form of sleet and snow, is forecast from 07:00 until early afternoon.
Throughout this time, water levels will rise and fall but overall they will be much higher than normal. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the forecast.
The EA is urging those with flood protection to install it now and leave it in place until at least Tuesday.
A flood alert was issued for the Eastern Yar yesterday and this remains in place between Bembridge and Arreton. A flood alert is also in force for Ryde St John’s.
