UPDATED: The troubled Cowes Floating Bridge has been pulled from service this morning (Monday) due to fears of hitting the wall on the East Cowes side of the River Medina.
Staff have moored the vessel up at the Cowes slipway and are turning passengers and vehicles away.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council has said:
“The Floating Bridge has been temporarily suspended, as it cannot berth at East Cowes without colliding with the GKN wall, due to a combination of wind and tide.
“A passenger launch is likely to be in place until noon”.
UPDATE @ 16:13 – The Floating Bridge is now back in action, according to the Isle of Wight Council.
