UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Council have confirmed that the Cowes Floating Bridge is to remain out of action until at least the end of the week – not tomorrow as expected.
The troubled Floating Bridge No. 6 was pulled from service on Friday evening when a prow chain broke. The Council initially said that the Cowes to East Cowes service would resume on Monday, later saying Wednesday. However, the latest update is that they ‘hope’ to have it all up and running again by Friday.
A passenger launch is running between 05:00 and 22:30 while the floating bridge is out of service.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 14:50 – Subject to completion and testing, the Isle of Wight Council anticipate that the floating bridge will go back into service tomorrow (Friday 9th February) from 07:00.
