Five candidates have been officially confirmed to stand in next month’s Isle of Wight Council by-election for the Lake North ward, following the resignation of Reform Councillor David Maclean last month
The by-election, set to take place on Thursday 2nd October, will see a 5-way contest between representatives from the Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats, Labour, Green Party and Reform UK.
Previous incumbent Cllr Maclean, stepped down just 3 months after being elected. All 5 of the nominated candidates have previously stood in Isle of Wight Council by-elections.
According to the official Statement of Persons Nominated, the candidates are:
- Bob Blezzard – Liberal Democrat
- Christopher Lloyd– Labour Party
- Robert Peter May– Green Party
- Bill Nigh – Reform UK
- Adrian Charles Whittaker– The Conservative Party Candidate
Both Adrian Whittaker and Robert Peter May ran in the by-election back in May, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Bill Nigh finished 2nd in the Freshwater South by-election y and 2nd in the Wroxall, Lowtherville & Bonchurch by-election back in July.
Christopher Lloyd also stood in the Wroxall, Lowtherville & Bonchurch by-election, securing 33 votes, whilst Bob Blezzard stood in May’s Central Rural by-election.
Polling cards will be issued in mid-September, detailing either the local polling station or postal voting information depending on the voter’s selected method.
Anyone not yet registered must do so by 16th September to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election.
Shame there is no Independent in the running.
