Firefighters from Newport and Ryde are tackling a blaze at the derelict Parkbury Hotel in Sandown this afternoon (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were first alerted to the blaze at the former hotel off Broadway at around 16:00, after a member of the public reported seeing smoke.
Once on scene, firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish a blaze which had erupted at the rear of the property.
It is unclear at this time as to how the fire was started.
Firefighters remain on scene damping down, with those present expected to return to their respective stations shortly.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service dispatched an Operational Commander to the scene however Island Echo understands that no one needs to receive any medical treatment.





























































































The sooner these derelict hotels are demolished
the better, it is putting peoples lives at risk.
Emergency services do not need the unnesseccary
hassle.
