UPDATED: Fire crews from Ryde Fire Station are this morning (Thursday) attending Marshcombe Shute in Brading after smoke started to issue from the brakes of a gas tanker.
At just before 10:45 the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the cause for concern when smoke was seen coming from the wheel area of the DAF lorry, which is thought to be carrying propane gas.
Two appliances and a fire officer have responded to the scene and are using a hose reel to damp down the area of concern.
UPDATE @ 11:20 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now left the scene.
The vehicle is awaiting recovery.
