The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is attending an outbuilding fire at a property between Newport and Carisbrooke this morning (Tuesday).
2 appliances from Newport, 1 from Cowes and the Incident Command Unit from Newport are currently on scene at Carisbrooke Road, where an outbuilding attached to the side of a property has caught light.
The alarm was raised just before 07:00.
Crews remain on scene tackling the fire and damping down the affected area.
It’s the second call out of the day so far for fire crews in Newport. Earlier this morning they were mobilised to a flat fire on Westminster Lane, which led to 2 people being hospitalised.
UPDATE @ 08:03 – 3 appliances remain on scene but the Incident Command Unit has been stood down.
The cause is unknown at this early stage.
Carisbrooke Road remains open but under Police direction.
