The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to reports of persons locked in a property this evening (Sunday).
A single appliance from Cowes Fire Station was mobilised by Hampshire Fire Control at 21:50 to an address where 2 people were unable to open a door.
Upon the arrival of the retained crew, it was discovered the occupants were in fact stuck in the kitchen within a 3rd floor flat.
Firefighters used their door entry kit to open the front door of the flat before using hand tools and a reciprocating saw to release the 2 grateful occupants from the kitchen.
Cowes’ pump stood down shortly afterwards and have since returned to station.

What a tragic and sad story hope the doors make a full recovery
Odd to have a lock on a kitchen door unless someone suffers from pradawilly syndrome.
Surely a knife could have been taken and used to unscrew the door furniture lock?
Most embarrassing for the couple.
