UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are responding to an alert at Ventnor Winter Gardens this evening (Tuesday).
Appliances from Ventnor, Shanklin, Sandown and Newport are responding to the call out alongside the aerial ladder platform from Ryde and the Incident Command Unit from Newport.
Crews were mobilised at just before 19:10.
UPDATE @ 19:40 – Thankfully, the incident has been deemed a false alarm. A faulty smoke detector has been blamed.
Firefighters from across the Island are now standing down and returning to station.
The Winter Gardens remains open for business as usual.
