UPDATED: Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered Fortis House in Ryde this afternoon (Sunday) where a fire is thought to have broken out.
2 appliances from the nearby local fire station are in attendance at the scene on Cothey Way off Brading Road.
Crews wearing BA have entered the building on the ground floor equipped with 2 hose reels.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident at 16:15.
UPDATE @ 16:35 – Fears of a fire at the business centre have been alleviated with crews confirming the alarm has been sparked by burnt toast.
A positive pressure ventilation fan is being used to rid the building of any smoke.
1 appliance and a duty officer remain on the scene.
UPDATE @ 16:55 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now left the scene.
All appliances have returned to station.
