The final episode of Isle of Wight: Jewel of the South will air on the small screen tonight, bringing Series 2 of the popular TV series to a close. Episode 4 of 4 will feature the seaside town of Sandown as it gears up for the annual carnival. Café owner Vivette Fryer is planning a barbecue to give revellers a taste of her authentic Caribbean cooking. At the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum in Ryde, volunteers who have spent years meticulously restoring an old bus that served on the Island almost 100 years ago crank up its vintage engine for the very first time. Over in Colwell Bay, former kite surfing champion Tom Court is making the most of the windy weather to brush up on his skills and practice a few of his epic moves, ready for his next big competition. In Seaview, following the popularity of his trademark gin, local distiller Xavier Baker’s latest offering is a sumptuous, spiced rum, made from some of the Island’s locally grown fruits and botanicals. 
Robin Hill Country Park, which has now closed, will also feature in tonight’s episode. Laura Baxter and her colleague Verity McCormick are preparing for one of the most spectacular events of the Summer – Night Glow. Isle of Wight: Jewel of the South will air tonight (Thursday) at 20:00 on Channel 5.

Can’t wait, nice to feature something that has closed down, also in tonights episode, the camera crew scrambling around to find some cash the take a pee, trying to get some nice shots of Newport without a closed shop in the viewfinder, and an interview with pop up bob about how well the island is doing over a nice bbq and jerk jordan about the floating bridge fiasco.
I’m looking forward to that now.
I wonder why you keep coming back? You’re obviously not a resident based on your litany of woes. Unless of course you are a resident but lacking in the courage to put your money where your mouth is? There are ferries leaving every hour (some delays expected due to ongoing maintenance issues.)
I never went away actually, So you think the island is the golden paradise of old then, open your eyes and take a good look around you. That is if you can drag yourself away from the TV to watch this kind of tosh. I am a resident as well, so stick that in your pipe. We are not living in Putins Russia quite yet. So freedom of speech is allowed, even for you.
That’s a really wicked thing to say. Have you ever seen a person die of cancer?? I have had cancer myself and I cam tell you it’s not nice. Stark reminder is saying it how it is and I’m a born and bred Islander having to watch a bunch of numpties allowing it to become run down.
Last weeks episode was a great free advert for Calbourne Mill which has been up for sale for years.
The Donkey Sanctuary was worth watching though.
Actually the apparently pleasant lady ‘manager’ at the Donkey Sanctuary has caused a lot of staff to leave by her overbearing and unpleasant demeanour according to staff I have chatted with there. Also the once lovely Cafe has been run down by her ‘managerial skills’ or lack of.
So whilst the camera doesn’t lie, the Video representation perhaps does give a false image at times.
Full credit to the Donkey Sanctuary for they do a wonderful job, just choose your management staff a little more carefully in future. A happy atmosphere and staff encourage visitors to return and much of that has now gone.

Haven’t watched it. The last series was awful so I’ve made a point of avoiding it. Too twee.
Just not the same without Howard Spooner blowing his own trumpet and boring us senseless.
Funny how the show had him on last year and he declared bankrupt, and then Robin Hill is featured this year despite the fact it has closed permanently. This show is the kiss of death.

Most of the ‘islanders’ on there are not from here and absolutely love it. Of course they do! They’re rich luvvys who are so up their own xxxx they don’t notice how contrived they are.
The real iow IS NOT like the ever sunny portrayal they deliver every blimmin week. There’s poverty,ramshackle towns and fault ridden overpriced transport, drugs and criminals, murders and so much more! Terrorism as well!
