FIAT ‘CRASHES INTO TREE’ ON CARTERS ROAD

UPDATED: A Fiat 500 has been ‘abandoned’ on Carters Road on the outskirts of Ryde this afternoon (Thursday) after appearing to have collided with a tree.

Police have been notified about the vehicle, which is currently parked facing the wrong way on a bend between Upton and Smallbrook Roundabout. No one is with the vehicle and no Police Aware stickers are visible.

The small Fiat has sustained substantial front-end damage and the airbags have been deployed.

Motorists are advised to take extra care in the area.

UPDATE @ 15:00 – Recovery of the vehicle has now been arranged.

Island Echo understands Police were informed of the incident, but were unable to attend the scene.

The female driver of the vehicle, who is said to bes shaken but uninjured, has been taken home by family.

UPDATE @ 16:30 – The vehicle has been recovered from the carriageway.
