Bembridge RNLI self-launched their inshore lifeboat following reports of 2 persons potentially in trouble on Bembridge Ledge this afternoon (Sunday).
At just before 16:15 a member of the public reported that 2 people had been spotted on the outer rocks of Bembridge Ledge and were in danger of getting cut off by the incoming tide. The report resulted in the immediate launch of Bembridge RNLI’s D-class lifeboat, the ‘Norman Harvey’.
After a thorough search of the area without sighting anyone in difficulty it was concluded that the pair must have managed to make their own way back to the beach.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were also involved in the search from their station overlooking the Ledge and with Coastguard officers on the ground.
Standing down from the search, the lifeboat crew returned to station and the ‘Norman Harvey’ was recovered by 17:00.
