The Vernon Square Conservation Society hosted the long awaited return of their annual Summer Garden Party on a sun-dappled afternoon in their beautiful garden last Saturday (1st July).
There was live music and singing from Island favourites The RUG Band, and singer songwriter Steve Love and members, residents and visitors came along to join in 4 hours of partying.
Aside from the music, there were the usual temptations of the Prosecco and Pimms Bar, delicious home-made cakes and savouries, and piping hot tea and coffee. During the afternoon a prize raffle was drawn, with many top prizes donated by local businesses.
Keen gardeners made their way to scoop a few bargains at the impressive plant and gardenalia stall. Children of all ages could browse and ‘try before they buy’ at the very popular toy stall.
All proceeds made throughout the afternoon are going to the Vernon Square Conservation Society, which is run by volunteers who donate their free and valuable time to ensure the Garden remains open to the members, the community of Ryde and visitors.
