UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a small fire at a property off West Street in Ryde tonight (Tuesday).
2 appliances from Ryde were mobilised to the scene at West Place at around 21:30 following a call from the occupants of the house after they noticed something untoward.
Island Echo understands that a small fire has broke out in the electrical component of the immersion heater, which has resulted in smoke damage to the property.
2 breathing apparatus and a hose reel are being used to extinguish the fire.
No one has been injured in the incident thanks to the occupant’s quick thinking. They have been praised for shutting the door, exiting the property, remaining outside the property and alerting the fire service.
UPDATE @ 23:02 – Fire crews have now stood down from the incident and returned to station.
