Emergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision on Beaper Shute on the outskirts of Ryde this evening (Monday).
Police and fire crews are on scene dealing with the incident, which has occurred near the junction of Harding Shute. They were alerted to the crash shortly after 18:00.
It is understood a vehicle has read-ended another vehicle opposite the junction of Harding Shute.
Traffic is building in the area.
There was also an RTC on Hunnyhill in Newport at around 18:00 which saw buses on diversion, however, this has since been cleared.
UPDATE – Both incidents have now been cleared.

Very dangerous road.
Safety on this Road needs improving.
Where are you from ??? There is nothing at all wrong with that road… never has been.. it is the bad drivers, probably like you that think it is dangerous… SLKOW DOWN, KEERP LEWFT OF CENTRE LINES>>> simples
Maybe you need eye testy and drivers re test ! Idiot .
Roads are negotiated with a little common sense, idiots drivers are dangerous..
Perhaps your the kind of driver that would call a cliff dangerous, but still drive over it….
I should think that the insurance companies must know Beaper Shute quite well!!
Too many speeders, too many over the centre line..
This Junction is extremely busy at the moment as Harding Shute is used as a diversion whilst
Smallbrook lane is closed …about time Island Roads put slow down signs on Beaper shute
or there will be more accidents here !!!
Perhaps they could install a SIX MONTH rouandabout there too, to slow traffic and make it safer, then their pals could ‘develop’ Galley Horn lane as well.
This is most likely due to cars pulling out of Harding Shute on Beaper Shute, which we all know is a fast, 50mph road. Happened to me last week. They can’t judge the distance and speed of the car travelling on Beaper, but pull out anyway and drive at a snales pace. Although I saw the car pulling out, I still had to put the brakes on PDQ!!!!
Do you know the details of the accident? Do you know what harm has been caused to those involved and their passengers? No you absolutely don’t, so your opinion is completely irrelevant and should not be voiced as you know nothing.
I think some forget or never understood in the first place how dangerous Beaper Shute can be. Patience, Patience! Too many deaths on that road.
It’s not a dangerous road been driving to work that way for 35 years people just can’t wait anymore they don’t care and pull out patients please and drive carefully along Harding shute too your going to fast there
You can’t even spell patience you small minded idiot, have some sympathy for those who were involved in the crash and the trauma it will have caused, you do not know the details so have no right to blast these false accusations online, be kind clearly people never learn to not leave hurtful comments online!
More stupid drivers, PAY ATTENTION, take your eyes off your mobile phone and look what’s ahead of you too many people driving without due care and attention. LOOK THINK LOOK AGAIN repeat…
After a crash the one that caused the crash should be banned from driving minimum 2 years ! Then do a COMPLETE new test. Too many bad drivers out there. NO INDICATORS… BLUE LIGHTS lit in front ( not insured by the way ) Extra loud exhausts ( do their insurance company know?) Speeding, jumping red lights..
Stop cutting corners, think of other road users…. PLEASE. The standard of driving here is so low.
Your standard of basic human decency is so low, you know very little detail of the incident and those involved, therefore your decision to stereotype and make assumptions is completely unfair and not in any way justified.
If people didn’t drive so fast, aggressively and too close to the vehicle in front, these kind of incidents wouldn’t happen. It isn’t rocket science really!
How about take a moment to consider that you do not actually have a clue about the details of the incident, why it occurred and the speed which the driver was going and how it effected them and the young passengers of their vehicle, your comment is vile, uneducated and insensitive.
