Omg. Hope everyone ok
No respect for life on our island roads, I have one message to island drivers, give yourself more time.
Leave your home ten minutes earlier before your journey, calm down, you will get there in the end…..Safely!.
So true, traffic Calming and Road Cameras are needed on the Island.
It is like a Rat Race, no offence to Rats!
Nonsense. Cameras cause drivers to look at their speedometers rather than the roads, and brake unexpectedly. Traffic ‘calming’ actually has the opposite effect.
There was once a sign – it said – “BETTER ARRIVE LATE THAN DEAD ON TIME.” Perhaps if should be tried again.
I recently challenged a driver who tailgated me all the way home and, at 20mph I could not see his lights he was that close. His response was, “I wasn’t tailgating and I don’t see the problem – I was a car’s length behind you!” As the Highway Code states (and anyone with common sense will tell you) the braking/stopping distance at 20mp is 12m or 40ft and 23m or 75ft at 30mph. I mentioned this to a young person who had passed their test fairly recently and they confirmed that indeed this is what drivers on the Island are being taught. There is also a great deal of confusion about secondary indicating on mini roundabouts. Who’s in charge of training the driving instructors? Is this the reason there are so many accidents on the Island?
I wouldn’t worry nobody bothers to indicate on this island anyway
Please do not tar all with the same brush, I don’t believe I can be the only one, except yourself of course.
As Gracie Allen said ” I always keep five car lengths between me and the car in front. I know this because there are five cars between me and the car in front”.
Idiot!
It’s a joke lighten up
Not taught that, it’s two second rule, One car length is when you are stationary at roundabout/traffic lights
At 20 mph the whole way home and not understanding the difference between braking distance and space between cars. Obviously your the sort of quality driver that fills the island
Didn’t claim to have driven all the way home at 20. Stuck to the speed limit all the way. Stated that, when road condition on last leg called for a slow down his distance behind me would NOT have allowed him to stop if I had to brake had someone stepped out in front of me. You’re obviously the sort of impulsive commentator who never reads things properly.
You do sound like an OAP who drives 30 no matter the speed limit or traffic. People like that need their license revoked asap.
