16 parking spaces at Morrisons supermarket in Newport are set to be lost to make way for just 6 electric vehicle bays. The supermarket giant, owned by Motor Fuel Group, is seeking permission from the Isle of Wight Council to make alterations to its car park at Church Litten. Planning is being sought to remove 4 parking spaces close to the petrol station to make way for a sub-station enclosure, LV panel and meter cabinet. A further 12 parking spaces opposite will be lost to create a ‘charging zone’, made up of 6 parking spaces for customers to charge their electric vehicles.
