Hundreds and thousands of homes in the East Wight has been plunged into darkness as a result of a large scale network fault this evening (Christmas Day).
There has been 2 faults which has lead to hundreds of postcode areas being left without power.
At one point, 148 postcode areas were left without supply including Sandown, Bembridge, Ryde & towns and villages in and around those areas.

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the fault and are working to rectify the issue which occurred at 19:41.
The estimated time of restoration is 23:00 this evening.
Currently, at time of publishing, SSEN has managed to get a number of homes back on the grid, with 73 postcode areas still being affected.
UPDATE @ 23:00 – Power has now been restored.
