East Cowes residents are being invited to a joint agency event on Thursday to discuss concerns about the recent spate of arson attacks in the town.
Officers from the North East Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team will be on hand alongside firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and staff from the Isle of Wight Council.
The event, which will be held outside Waitrose on Well Street between 18:00-20:00 on Thursday 2nd March, will offer locals the opportunity to meet their local police team, ask any questions and raise any concerns.
It comes as an investigation continues into 7 suspicious vehicle fires, which have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Inspector Andy McDonald has recently said:
“This behaviour must stop, and we will be investigating this series as a priority in order to protect the community and bring those responsible to justice”.
“Bring them to justice”, what with half of the third world filling our prisons?
An insult to all those affected and yet to be.
Now courts can never again give meaningful sentences to criminals, and they know it, hence the numbers growing daily.

In 2019, foreigners made up 11% of the UK prison population. Hardly ‘half of the third world filling our prisons’ as you put it. Your post seems a bit alarmist and more than a little xenophobic in my opinion.
I would dread to be called xenophobic, QK but just to point out that eleven percent seems a high number. ‘Foreigners’ must mean only those with no connection to the UK and not naturalised or born to foreign parents here.
For foreign nationals in prisons, the US reported 7.3% in the same period, France reported 24.6% in 2021 and Germany reported 25.5% in 2020, so I don’t think 11% is hugely higher than other, similar, developed countries. I’m not saying it’s good, it’s just what it is.
Where the police will give many woebetides, warnings and much finger wagging should any person even consider catching the culprit themselves.
If i was the arsonist i think sometime between 6 and 8pm on Thursday might be a good time to torch vehicle number 8 as i suspect the local constabulary and fire service maybe looking the other way.
