Community Spirited was recently invited to visit the Vectis Road Allotments Association (VERA) in East Cowes where they were presented with fresh produce to give to their pantry members as well as a cheque for £300.
VERA Allotmenteers have provided the Community Pantry with seasonal fruit and vegetables over the last year and last Saturday (15th July), Community Spirited were invited to visit.
They were able to spend time at the allotments, finding out about the produce grown there and how they do it.
Jane Allchorn of Community Spirited said:
“We had a lovely tour and enjoyed chatting and finding out about how and what they grow. They presented us with fresh produce to give out to our pantry members next week and a cheque for £300.”
“We were so surprised at their goodwill for the work we do. We then had the most wonderful cakes, bread and refreshments. It was such a pleasure to meet those who have given us fresh produce over the last year.”
