A fire broke out at a block of flats in Newport overnight leading to a communal area being badly damaged by the flames.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 4 appliances from Newport and Cowes to Hookes Way, adjacent to the dual carriageway, at around 04:10 this morning (Friday).

An arson investigation has been launched with Police and firefighters due to conduct further on scene investigations throughout today.
