A driver fled the scene of a collision in Sandown prior to the arrival of Police this afternoon (Friday).
Officers were sent to St John’s Road at around 15:00 following reports of a Peugeot 406 crashing into a parked Peugeot 206.
Witnesses say the male driver simply walked off prior to the arrival of Police. He was suspected of being under the influence.
The 406 came to a stop a short distance down the road, which was closed for a time whilst recovery of the uninsured and untaxed vehicle took place.

so, island echo blocks out the number plate of the car – but leaves the partial plate of the parked car in view, and the one in the distance in full view. I guess Island echo doesn’t care about publishing innocent motorists details, just worried about protecting the criminals identity
I agreed with you, however island echo blocked my post, I wonder why??????
Or it could just be a mistake. Do you ever make mistakes? No, I thought not…
It’s a simple photo of a car incident – partial number plates mean nothing – and we see full plates everyday lol 🙂
A Good Post . hope the drivers of the Partial Plates have a good reason to be parked there . it could cause a Domestic Dispute >
What is happening on this once lovely Island! ! I am seriously shocked to see day in day out car crash and accidents galore!
This is what happens now it has become a low life chav scum haven
Welcome to the selfish generation.
More like the half wits generation. Drink or drugs in, wits out.
Scummerville
im sure the popo will sort it out …..
Put extra tax on the petrol and scrap the road tax license then everybody pays
Let’s be honest that policewoman was not about to give chase was she???
Wait until ~Ryde is built into a ghetto, this sort of thing will not even be ‘newsworthy’ compared with the real, frightening crime on our streets then.
Vote this vile council out next given chance.
My money is on May’s elections being delayed for a long time. We’ll have to put up with the monkeys in the Council Zoo for a bit longer.
It is not really newsworthy unless of course you are a nosey person wanting to see more details.
Let’s be honest Kostas Quiteabit, you’re a sexist twat.
No ifs buts or maybes no insurance, no road tax = crusher – simple!
