The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has said a sad goodbye to Prentice, who died peacefully on Wednesday. Prentice arrived in Wroxall back in 2018 from a loving family near Alresford, after the passing of his companion left him very lonely. As soon as he arrived at the Sanctuary, he was a big hit with everyone. Prentice loved people and loved to interact with them. Prentice has been described by 1 of the volunteers as ‘a donkey, who stole my heart. A huge gentle giant, with doleful eyes. He loved a fuss and would come when called, if not too busy enjoying the grass. He was easy to identify, standing tall, brown and white, those big ears and gorgeous pink nose’. In recent times, Prentice was struggling to keep his weight at a healthy level and was under constant supervision with the team at Vectis Vets. A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has said:
“It is always difficult losing any of our beloved animals and Prentice will be greatly missed. “All of our donkeys end their days here at the Sanctuary and we ensure all of our animals receive the highest standard of care. “Rest in Peace lovely Prentice”.
